X-Men Origens: Magneto was a planned spin-off movie, set in 20th Century Fox's X-Men franchise, based off the Marvel Comics series of the same name.

The plot is currently unknown, but it might have been a prequel movie focusing on Magneto.

Why It Was Cancelled[]
- the 2007-2008 Writers Guild of America strike affected the film's production.
- David Goyer suggested that the film would only begin production depending on the performance of X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
- X-Men Origins: Wolverine was a critical and commercial failure.
- Ian McKellen confirmed in an interview saying that he would not reprise his role as Magneto in any X-Men films because of his age.
- Fox felt that such a movie would be unnecessary, as the movie X-Men: First Class have already shown a "Magneto origin story" to the audience.
