During the 2010s, DreamWorks Animation approached Lin-Manuel Miranda about the pitch of a original musical film called Vivo under their company following the success of his stage musical In the Heights.

The plot was currently unknown when it was in production.

Why It Was Cancelled[]

  1. The restoration of DreamWorks and DreamWorks Animation of 2015 caused the main cancellation of the film.

Results[]

  • The DreamWorks Animation version of Vivo was permanently cancelled.
  • In 2016, the film rights to the project were eventually given to Sony Pictures Animation, which would eventually release a new version of Vivo on August 6, 2021 via Netflix to positive reviews.
