Originally The Grinch after their tremendous success with $540 million, were going to make a prequel, where we would see The Grinch's past as a child.

Plot

The plot would have taken place back-to-back the 2018 film.

Why It Was Cancelled

1. It was presumably cancelled when Dr. Seuss' late-widow Audrey Geisel moved the film rights of Dr. Seuss' other story projects to Warner Bros. and Warner Bros Animation either in 2018 or 2019.
2. Despite the massive success, The Grinch received underwhelming reviews by critics and audiences.
