The Flash 2 was a planned sequel to the 2023 Superhero Movie The Flash

In October 2022, it was announced in a Hollywood Reporter article about the future of the DC movies that a sequel script to The Flash had already been written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick who previously wrote Aquaman, just in case the film was successful. however, in June 2023, before the release of The Flash, it was reported that the sequel script was put on ice and was unsure about if it would get made.

Plot[]

Would taken place after the events of the first film. Also, this would've seen the return of Batman (from the Schumacherverse; possibly to be returned to be played by George Clooney) and Supergirl. It was also speculated that Reverse Flash would've been the main antagonist.

Why It Was Cancelled[]

  1. The Flash was a Box Office Bomb only grossing $268 million against a budget of $220 million with a report saying the budget counting marketing was $350 million. It is estimated to lose the studio Warner Bros. over $150 million and was received with mixed reviews by critics and audiences, despite early high praise from early screening.
  2. Prior to the release of The Flash, it was announced that the DCEU would be rebooted by James Gunn and Peter Safran to become the DCU with many actors being recast for the new universe which would've affected The Flash sequel, as well as Ezra Miller’s controversial behaviour.

Results[]

  • The Flash remains a standalone movie.
  • Instead, the DCEU would be rebooted to become the DCU with reports mentioning a New Flash actor to replace Ezra Miller in the near future.
