In the 1990s, a group of filmmakers were planning to make a movie based on the Union Pacific Big Boy. 4018 was chosen to be restored for the film.

- It is unknown why it was cancelled. Probably because the locomotive the railroad people were planning to restore was deemed too expensive and impossible to restore due to missing parts.
