Cancelled Movies. Wiki

Before Toy Story 4 was released, it went through different script changes including a romantic comedy script.

Toy Story 4 was announced, and Pixar began the development process of this, the original script of the film had a romantic comedy style and originally it would not be a continuation of Toy Story 3. The script was originally written by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack, and it was planned to be directed by John Lasseter, with a release date set for 2017.

It would be about Buzz and Woody going on a journey to find Bo Peep.

Why It Was Cancelled[]

  1. Most of the original Toy Story 4 script was scrapped by Pixar and the story was rewritten by Stephany Folsom, apparently because the original script didn't really please Pixar.

  • Due to the script rewriting, Toy Story 4 was pushed back to 2019 and The Incredibles 2 was moved forward to 2018 (which was the original release year for Toy Story 4)
  • A different version of Toy Story 4 was released in 2019.
  • The romantic comedy version of Toy Story 4 was permanently cancelled.
  • Elements from the original version such as the relationship between Woody and Bo Peep ended up in the final film.

  • The existence of a character was revealed, which was a dancing Santa Claus from the antique store and a hippie mother who was eventually removed from the film while the other was reformed into Bo Peep's owner in the museum.
  • Its release years went through several delays when it was announced in 2014. It was at first scheduled for 2017 (the year when Cars 3 was released) then moved to 2018 (the year when The Incredibles 2 was released) and finally moved to 2019, the year it got theatrically released.
