The SuperMarioLogan Movie! (Original Version) was a planned film based on the popular YouTube channel, SML (Formerly known as SuperMarioLogan). A teaser trailer to the unreleased film was released on July 9, 2017. A newly reworked version of the film titled SML Movie: Jeffy's 18th Birthday was released on August 21, 2022.

Plot[]

The movie starts off with Mario and Jeffy. Jeffy hears the ice cream truck, and asks Mario to buy him some ice cream. But it turns out the ice cream truck is driven by Screwball and Loan Dolphin. They were hired by Nancy to kidnap Jeffy, but they kidnap Mario instead. Jeffy tells Chef Pee Pee and other characters about Mario being kidnapped. Only Chef Pee Pee sees the problem in the whole thing, and every other character doesn't care. Then 2 days later it cuts to the living room, and the whole house is in chaos.

This is because Mario is the one in charge of the house, he pays the bills and house payment. Bowser gets mail saying that the power will be cut if it doesn't get paid. He asks Chef Pee Pee where Mario went. Chef Pee Pee explains to him that Mario got kidnapped, and nobody knows where he went. Bowser states that he knows a guy that can track Mario down, but he's long gone.

Just then he hears Bowser Junior and his friends talking about Dr. Fredrick Finkleshitz, and his ability to turn dead objects back to life. Bowser requests that Junior tell him where to find Fredrick Finkleshitz. Bowser brings the body pieces of Mama Luigi with him. Dr. Finkleshitz staples, and glues Mama Luigi back together, and uses a marker as a conductor for lightning, and brings him back to life. Bowser quickly lets Mama Luigi know what happened with Mario. He starts tracking Mario down. We cut to Nancy and Mario. Nancy wants Mario to sign Jeffy over so that she can get Jeffy's inheritance money. Mario is about to sign a paper but then Mama Luigi, Bowser, and Chef Pee Pee find the Headquarters. A fight breaks out, and Mario is saved.

Mama Luigi interacts with some of the characters, new and old. There would've also been a scene where Mama Luigi and Jeffy have a grunting contest for about 5 seconds.[1]

As of right now, the rest of the plot is currently uknown.

Why It Was Cancelled[]

  1. There is a bit of strong language.
  2. Overall, the draft is darker than the unreleased final cut, and it had on-screen deaths and was going for either a PG-13 or an R rating.
  3. Good Morning America did a segment on SML. It stated that YouTube is not doing enough to prevent inappropriate family-oriented content like SML from being viewed by kids, even though almost all of it is aimed not at kids but instead aimed at a primarily teenage and adult audience and has a large number of children's following. In interviews, kids admitted they knew the videos were inappropriate for them. Most parents stated that the channel should be eliminated from YouTube due to kids watching inappropriate content, despite SML not being meant for kids in the first place. Later, the segment was uploaded separately to GMA's YouTube channel. A majority of Logan's fans immediately hated the video, currently holding a roughly 1-to-10 like-to-dislike ratio and defended him in the comments.
  4. Some cast members still hate each other and barely perform on screen together. (Lovell Stanton with Elaina Keyes and Anthony Miller; and Chilly Jimenez with Keyes).
  5. Series creator Logan Thirtyacre repeatedly gets demonetized on YouTube and does nothing about the kid fans who subscribe and watch him.
  6. SML has still gone downhill.
  7. Budget problems during the production.
  8. The film would age poorly due to adding new characters and changing the main characters (Mario, Bowser, Rosalina, Bowser Junior, Cody, Joseph, Black Yoshi.) from plushies to human version puppets while other characters (Shrek, Woody, etc.) haven’t upgraded into puppets yet.
  9. The Apocalypse affected the film by Federal Trade Commission‘s Children‘s Online Privacy Protection Act, which was created in 1998 and effected in 2000. Due to YouTube violating the law, They were sued for $170 million by FTC. On November 12th, 2019, the new policy was added to YouTube Creator Studio; if a channel chooses an option of the channel’s demographic for children, YouTube will remove features such as comments, notification of a new video, being recommended, being searchable, the community tab, stories, info card, end title, and personalized ads. That YouTube cut 90% of lost revenue, making less money to support the film’s budget. If the channel chose the option of the channel’s demographic not for children but instead target for adult and teenage audiences but incorrectly that wasn’t made for children, YouTube would've paid a fine of $42,530 per video. This policy would come into effect by January 1, 2020.
  10. According to Chilly’s Tweet, Logan was “too scared” to announce the film’s cancellation. Otherwise, the fans would be upset and harass him if he did. Instead, they decided that fans would forget about the film’s existence.
  11. Zeke doesn't want to film with Logan anymore because he promised Zeke a job to work with the SML crew and later on did not respond about the Job confirmation, which almost caused Zeke to lose his current position. This fractured his and Logan's relationship.
  12. When a fan asks, "Where is the SML Movie?" Logan or other SML cast members never respond and ignore it, especially in Q&As.
  13. On February 11, 2021, Logan received a cease and desist letter from Nintendo, stating he is no longer allowed to use the Nintendo plushies in videos (they accused him of using their characters to promote hate speech). Logan announced that the human puppets would be used and become a permanent change to the channel.
  14. Logan himself got a lot contreversies at the time just being a terrible person
