Cancelled Movies. Wiki

The Peppercorn Chronicles was a planned teen fantasy film loosely based on the 2011 short film Mrs Peppercorn's Magical Reading Room. It was supposed to be directed by Mike Le Han, who previously directed the short film, and produced by crime author Martina Cole’s production company Black Lake, with Cole serving as executive producer. Le Han and his wife Helen were also attached to write the film's script and actors Jodelle Ferland, Noah Ringer and Michael Eklund were attached to star. The film was announced by Variety in May 2013, with production expected to begin in February 2014 in the United States and Hungary. It was also intended to be the first film in the Peppercorn trilogy. Despite Variety announcing it in 2013, there has since been no further developments released on the short inspired movie.

The story would've followed a teenage girl who moves to Black Lake with her parents. After meeting the local bakery owner’s son, she discovers dark secrets revealing that she could be the key to saving humanity.

Why It Was Cancelled[]

  1. Nothing much is known about the cancellation, except that Noah Ringer, one of the three known stars of the film, retired from acting after appearing in The Last Airbender and Cowboys & Aliens, both of which were not well received by critics and performed poorly at the box office.

  • Mrs Peppercorn's Magical Reading Room is currently a stand-alone short film.
  • The Peppercorn Chronicles was ultimately cancelled after nothing came into fruition.
