Cancelled Movies. Wiki
The Hobbit cover

In 1972, Disney veterans Frank Thomas and Vance Gerry pitched an idea for an alternate film inspired by J. R. R. Tolkien's famed novel of the same name, previously attempted by Walt Disney. They made a brief summary with concept art and made plans to tone down some of the more intense scenes from the book.

The plot would be the same as the novel, but with more light-hearted scenes.
