After The Lorax was deemed a box office success, Universal Studios and Illumination Entertainment announced that there were plans for a computer-animated adaptation of The Cat in the Hat, however the project didn't come to fruition. Audrey Geisel would serve as executive producer. The script would be written by Rob Lieber. It was scheduled to be released in 2012.

Results

  • The Illumination adaptation of The Cat in the Hat was permanently cancelled.
  • The final Dr. Seuss film that was made by Universal and Illumination was the 2018 film The Grinch.
  • Warner Animation picked up the rights to all future Dr. Seuss stories and is currently in development of adapting the story into a motion picture, FUCK YOU WARNER ANIMATION for Stealing Our Dr Seuss from us.
