Cancelled Movies. Wiki

Note: Please, do not add "Audrey Giesel died in December 2018", because this was before her death!

After The Lorax was deemed a box office success, Universal Studios and Illumination Entertainment announced that there were plans for a computer-animated adaptation of The Cat in the Hat, however the project didn't come to fruition. Audrey Geisel would serve as executive producer. The script would be written by Rob Lieber. It was scheduled to be released in 2012.

Considering that it's an adaptation, the story may have been exactly the same as the book.

  • The Illumination adaptation of The Cat in the Hat was permanently cancelled.
  • The final Dr. Seuss film that was made by Universal and Illumination was the 2018 film The Grinch.
  • The project was transferred over to Warner Animation Group following an agreement for Warner Bros. purchasing the entire Seuss Estate shortly before How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2018) hit theaters.
