The Billion Brick Race was going to be a computer-animated film by Warner Animation Group and LEGO. It was going to be the third spin-off film in The Lego Movie franchise and was slated to be released on May 24, 2019.

Why It Was Cancelled

  1. Jorge R. Gutierrez, who replaced Drew Pearce as the director of film abandoned the project on February 11, 2018 to pursue other opportunities.
  2. Both The Lego Ninjago Movie and The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part were box office disappointments, causing Warner Bros. to end their movie deal with Lego in December 2019, with Universal acquiring the rights in April 2020 and working on future Lego films, most likely rebooting The Lego Movie franchise.
  3. Three other films were released on May 24, 2019, which were Aladdin (the 2019 Disney remake), Booksmart, and Brightburn.

  • The Billion Brick Race was permanently cancelled.
