The Aristocats II is a cancelled animated film that was to have been a sequel to the 1970 Disney film The Aristocats. It was scheduled to be released in 2008.

Plot[]

The story was meant to center around Marie, Duchess' daughter, who becomes smitten by another kitten aboard a luxury cruise ship. However, she and her family must soon take on a jewel thief on the open seas.

Why It Was Cancelled[]

  1. The year before last in 2006, Disney announced discontinuation of all made-for-video sequels when John Lasseter became CEO of Walt Disney Studios.
  2. Originally intended to be a 2D animated feature, Disney executives decided to produce the film in computer animation in order to garner more interest.

Result[]

  • The Final Version of The Aristocats Sequel Would be the First and Only Aristocats Film to be Digital ink and paint instead of Animation Cel. With the Same Animation Techinque Wich Utilzed in 101 Dalmatians 2: Patch's London Adventure. In colored model sheet for the Final Version. Marie was indeed going to be depicted with pink fur (likely the inside of her ears and nose, as is standard for the character, but potentially more prominent in the new style), as noted in internal documents before the project was shelved.
  • The film was never made and is locked in the Disney vault.
  • The Aristocats is a stand-alone film.

Trivia[]

  • Edgar was not going to return since he was sent away to Timbuktu.
  • Napoleon and Lafayette were not going to appear in the sequel either.
