On August 4, 2013, it was revealed that Sony would be teaming up with Nintendo to make the first ever CGI Mario movie, but was cancelled for unspecific reasons.

Plot

Unknown.

Why it Was Cancelled

  1. The Sony Hack of 2014 may have cause it to be cancelled.
  2. At the time, Sony was already working on Popeye.

Result

  • The Sony version of Super Mario Bros. was cancelled.
  • In August of 2017, it was announced that a Mario movie was back in production, only this time by Illumination and Universal Pictures.
