In November of 2009, Warner Bros. announced that J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot Productions were going to work on a film adaptation of Samurai Jack. However, in June 2012, the film was cancelled after the show's creator announced that the film was cancelled after Abrams left the project to direct the 2009 Star Trek reboot film.
