Recess: The First Day of School was a direct-to-video prequel film planned to be released in August 2004 and be fourth direct-to-video film, and the fifth film in the Recess franchise.[1]
Plot[]
T.J. and his gang (except Gus, who wouldn't have moved to town yet) adjust to fourth grade, making it a prequel to the events of the series.
Why It Was Cancelled[]
- John Lasseter was appointed as head of Disney two years after the release date in 2006 and called off production of all future direct-to-DVD sequels.
Results[]
- The film was permanently cancelled.
- Recess: Taking the Fifth Grade and Recess: All Growed Down were released in December 2003 in place of this film.
