In late 1995, Brad Bird was in development of a film titled Ray Gunn under Turner Feature Animation. But due to the Turner/Time Warner merger, the film was scrapped. Bird would later direct The Iron Giant. It was later announced in 2019 that the film would be made under Skydance Animation.
