Cancelled Movies. Wiki

Pocahontas was a planned live-action Disney adaptation based on the 1995 Walt Disney Animation Studios film of the same name. It would have been composed by Alan Menken and directed by Mike Gabriel.

It would have followed the tale of a Native American woman named Pocahontas, who falls for an Englishman who has come to invade her homeland. Same as the original.

Why It Was Cancelled[]

  1. In a 2019 interview with first Pocahontas composer Alan Menken, he said "I don't know if we'll ever be able to do a live-action Pocahontas, I think that story is going to be difficult. With modern sensibilities, it'd be hard - you're going to offend somebody - so I don't know."

  • The live-action Pocahontas film was permanently cancelled.
  • Pocahontas remains as a duology with only two animated films, the first Pocahontas film and its 1998 sequel, Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World.
