Playdoh brand.
In April 2015, 20th Century Fox made a deal with Hasbro Studios along with its subsidiary company Allspark Pictures and Chernin Entertainment to make a live-action film off of the popular children's modeling compound Playdoh.[1]
Plot[]
The plot is unknown.
Development[]
Fox and Hasbro made a deal in 2015 to turn Playdoh into a film. Paul Feig was set to direct, with Jason Micallef potentially writing the script.
Why It Was Cancelled[]
- Plundering of Hasbro's rights has that they have lost much of their ideas, despite Paul Feig being enthusiastic about it.
- Its budget may have been a little too high for 20th Century Fox to own.
- The acquisition of Fox's parent company 21st Century Fox by the Walt Disney Company likely halted this film's production further.
Results[]
- Playdoh remained as a toy brand.
- 20th Century Fox's film adaptation of Playdoh was permanently cancelled.
- On March 17, 2022, it was announced that a new animated film adaptation is in development at Entertainment One and its parent company Hasbro, Emily V. Gordon writing and Jon M. Chu are producing and possibly directing.[2]
