In October 2005, it was announced that Jon Favreau would direct and produce an animated film based on his original concept that was to take place in pre-historic times.[1] In January 2008, Favreau told MTV News that he was ready to begin work on the project and was optimistic to do motion capture animation tests before the 2007–08 writers' strike.[2]
