Mrs. Doubtfire 2 was the proposed sequel to the hit 1993 film Mrs. Doubtfire, with Robin Williams to be back in the leading role. 20th Century Fox began putting the film together in 2003[1], and the film was to be released sometime in 2014.

Plot

Years after the first film, a man (Dustin Hoffman) gets into a divorce with his wife and Daniel Hilliard (Williams) decides to be Mrs. Doubtfire again to look after the man's kids.

Why It Was Cancelled

  1. In 2006, Robin Williams pursued to do other films, before the film was launched into production.
  2. Robin Williams died on August 11, 2014.
  3. Mara Wilson retired from acting in 2000. However, she returned in 2012 as a writer and an on and off actress.
  4. Aside from Mara Wilson, the other child actors who starred alongside her are now too old to reprise their roles respectively.

Results

  • The film was permanently cancelled following Robin Williams' death.
  • After the film was cancelled, Chris Columbus went on to direct Pixels.
  • Mrs. Doubtfire is a stand-alone film.
