- Despite receiving positive reviews, the first film performed poorly at the box office, So Disney did not have enough money to make the sequel.
- John Lasseter called off all future direct to DVD sequels after becoming the chief creative officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios.
Result[]
- The film was permanently cancelled.
- DisneyToon Studios was held to take hold of the film. But the studio shut down in 2018.
- Meet the Robinsons is a stand alone film.
- Meet the Robinsons and Bolt would mark the end of the Disney Post-Renaissance, while The Princess and the Frog would begin the Disney Revival in 2009.

- As for Chicken Little, Meet the Robinsons would be one of the two Disney Post-Renaissance films to have a cancelled sequel.
- So far, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Brother Bear, Lilo and Stitch, and The Emperor's New Groove are the only Disney Post-Renaissance films to have at least one sequel.
