Maniac 3 was a proposed sequel in Joe Spinell's Maniac franchise. It would've been released in November 1992 as a direct-to-video film by Media Home Entertainment.

Plot[]

Unknown, although it was suppose to take place after the events of Maniac 2.

Why It Was Cancelled[]

  1. Joe Spinell was killed in the middle of production on January 13, 1989 warning Media Home Entertainment to ban the project from being released in November 1992.

Result[]

  • The Maniac franchise was sold to Video Treasures on September 23, 1993 (now Anchor Bay Entertainment), and then to Blue Underground (where the production had started in 2007).
  • The remake of Maniac was scheduled for a 2011 release under distribution with Genius Entertainment, but after their distributor closed down in 2009, it was pushed to June 21, 2013. This film was released on December 27, 2012 in Germany, and there was English dub that was first released on March 15, 2013 in United Kingdom. It was also released by IFC Midnight on June 21, 2013.
