King of the Elves was a film set to be released by Walt Disney Animation Studios. It was based on a short story fantasy by Phillip K. Dick and originally planned to be directed by Aaron Blaise and produced by John Lasseter and Chuck Williams.

The film was about a band of elves and one dwarf living in the Mississippi Delta who name a local human, Calder, their king after he helps save them from an evil troll.

Why It Was Cancelled[]

  1. Originally slated for release in 2012, the film was reportedly shelved in December 2009.
  2. In 2010, it was reportedly back in development and set to be released in 2012 with Chris Williams, who co-directed Bolt, set to direct. It soon rivaled Frozen for a 2013 release because production was going so well.
  3. Production eventually stalled due to story problems, and Williams started helping other current film projects on the side.

  • Despite the original Disney film being permanently cancelled, it is possible that another studio will one day bring it back to life.
