Hidden Dragon is a Chinese computer-animated film that was set for release in 2023, then pushed back to 2024, and once again in 2025.

Plot[]

In a magical undersea world where dragons rule and humans are feared, a naive young dragon forms an uneasy alliance with the sea's greatest enemy - a human girl.

At this time, the film was later picked up by Ashland Hill Media Finance, Limestone Animation, Rabbits Black, Flying Tigers Entertainment, Chatrone, Wind Sun Sky Entertainment, Lengi Studios, One Cool Films, Lion Forge Entertainment, Flywheel Media, Align, GFM Animation, HB Wink Animation, Aniventure and Cinesite and would be planned to be released by Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies.

Why It Was Cancelled[]

  1. The cancellation reasons are currently unknown, but it can be assumed that the film was done for as it kept getting pushed back, possibly due to issues during production. One of the film's animators, Fernando Peña, mentioned in one of his demo reels that the film was in fact quietly canned.[1]

  • The film was permanently cancelled.
  • The film could be first traced back as late as 2022, where an official trailer was posted around during that time.[2]
  • 20 minutes of the film were uploaded online by a YouTube user called Derps.
  • The film rights were later picked up by Paramount & Nickelodeon and it resulted in the 2026 film produced by Ashland Hill Media Finance, Limestone Animation, Rabbits Black, Flying Tigers Entertainment, Chatrone, Wind Sun Sky Entertainment, Lengi Studios, One Cool Films, Flywheel Media, Lion Forge Entertainment, Align, GFM Animation, HB Wink Animation, Aniventure and Cinesite & distributed by Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies.

Trivia[]

  • On October 31, 2025, it was announced that Paramount and Nickelodeon had picked up the rights to the film, while Cinesite provides animation. Aniventure would also take care of the remaining animation. It was released on November 20, 2026 to positive reception.
