In 2009, David Fincher and James Cameron announced they would executive produce and direct two segments of a new animated film based on the Heavy Metal magazine.
The segments were going to be directed by them, Kevin Eastman, Tim Miller, Zack Snyder, Gore Verbinski and Guillermo del Toro.
The plot for the segments are currently unknown.
Why It Was Cancelled
Paramount stopped funding in August 2009.
- Robert Rodriguez picked up the film rights for Heavy Metal to develop a new animated film, but nothing has been heard of that ever since.
- In 2019, the Fincher project was retooled into Love, Death and Robots, a Netflix series.
