Heathcliff badkitty

Heathcliff: Bad Kitty was going to be a 3D animated adaptation of the comic strip character of the same name. It was scheduled for a release in 2011.

History[]

The film was going to be made by Waterman Entertainment and Magic Lantern Studios and distributed by 41 Entertainment (41E). They were chosen because of their "impeccable track record" on other films such as Casper, Stuart Little and Alvin and The Chipmunks. The film and its following spin-offs were meant to bring back interest in the Heathcliff brand.

A trailer was released in March 2010 and was story-boarded by Swinton Scott and Barry Caldwell. Both were contacted regarding the film, and had no new information, stating it was done for fundraising. The film's approximate release date was in 2011's holiday season and was ultimately going to coincide with a traditionally-animated cartoon that would be produced by Renegade Animation and released in spring 2013, but neither of these projects came to fruition and were cancelled in the end.[1]

Plot[]

It is unknown what the plot would be about. But, from the little information that was released, it can be assumed that it would be about Heathcliff taking care of three annoying little cats.

Why It Was Cancelled[]

  1. The two graphic artists who worked on the trailer's storyboard stated that they had never been called back to work on the film.
  2. The project never came to fruition.

Result[]

  • The film was permanently canceled and will likely never be released.
  • Despite the cancelation, the trailer is still up.
  • In 2023, the project was moved to DreamWorks Animation.
  • In 2024, it was announced that the film will be released on August 1, 2025.

Trivia[]

  • Some press releases from the distribuitor could show that the film may be have almost been finished.
