Cancelled Movies. Wiki

Halo was a proposed live action adaptation of the popular video game series of the same name, directed by Neill Blomkamp and produced by Peter Jackson. It was scheduled for a slight Summer 2009 release date.

After they crash-land on an artificial ring-world called "Halo", a navy captain, his surviving marines, and a chemically-and-surgically-enhanced supersoldier named John-117 "Master Chief" must find out what the Covenant, the genocidal alien race they are at war with, are looking for on the ring. However, Halo holds more secrets than either side imagined.

Why It Was Cancelled[]

  1. The script was apparently poorly written.
  2. Production issues.
  3. Poor funding.
  4. Neill Blomkamp decided to quit and do District 9 instead.
  5. Peter Jackson also decided to produce The Adventures of Tintin (2011), direct The Lovely Bones (2009) and The Hobbit trilogy (2012-2014).

  • The film is permanently cancelled.
  • The movie's script can be found online, however.
  • As a result of the cancellation, Halo ended up becoming a TV series for Paramount Plus, which debuted in early March 24, 2022; it was very well-received by fans of the original Halo video games.

  • Budget was, according to Neill Blomkamp, a huge amount of $120 million USD.
