In the 1990s, Warner Bros. announced that a potential sequel to the original Space Jam, titled Golf Jam, was in the works (found on The Wayback Machine).[1]
Plot[]
The plot is currently unknown, but we would've more than likely seen the Looney Tunes characters and professional golfer Tiger Woods competing with others.
Development[]
The director of Space Jam approached Spike Lee to help him write the script for Golf Jam. Other than that, development details are scarce.[2]
Why It Was Cancelled[]
- In an interview with the original director of Space Jam, Joe Pytka, in 2016, he said the idea felt "quite dumb".
Results[]
- The film was permanently cancelled.
- In 2021, a Space Jam sequel titled Space Jam: A New Legacy was released on July 16, 2021 theatrically and on HBO Max (US Only).
Trivia[]
- A Robot Chicken video sketch shown a parody of the concept of the movie. The only difference in the video sketch is that Tiger Woods would help the characters from the DC Universe instead of the Looney Tunes (Heathcliff, from Heathcliff and the Catillac Cats, was one of them).[3]
