Before Paul W.S. Anderson's Resident Evil movie series was greenlit, the late George A. Romero, known for directing both Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead, was originally set to direct a Resident Evil movie.
Plot[]
The plot was going to be the same as the first game, but with some changes:
- Chris was a half Native American farmer.
- Wesker and Barry (who is African American in this version) are old friends.
- Many of the S.T.A.R.S bravo team who died in the game were going to have a bigger role.
- A movie only character named Rodriguez was in the movie.
- Ada Wong makes an appearance and is an Umbrella scientist.
- At the end of the movie, Racoon City was going to blow up along with the Spencer Mansion.
Why It Was Cancelled[]
- Capcom did not like Romero's script and replaced him with Paul W.S. Anderson.
Result[]
- The film was cancelled.
- Despite that, the script can be viewed online.
