In September 2016, it was reported on famous websites like Animation Magazine and The Hollywood Reporter that plans for a musical film adaptation of the book of the same name, "Frogkisser!", by Garth Nix, was in the works. Which would have featured original songs by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. Studios like 20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios were interested in being the distributors for the film.

Nate Hopper (Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, Open Season, Surf's Up) was set to be the director for the film. Along with Michael McCullers (Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation, Baby Mama, The Boss Baby) set to be a screenwriter for the film.


Plot[]

Princess Anya, who has the unfortunate ability to break curses with a magic kiss. When her evil stepmother’s new husband, her evil stepfather, tries to take over the kingdom, Anya goes on the rush. With her unlikely companions; including a loyal talking dog, a boy thief trapped in the body of a newt, and a mischievous wizard. The princess embarks on a quest to save the kingdom and uncover her magical potential.


Why It Was Cancelled[]

  1. The cancellation reasons are currently unknown. The only possible reason online is that Blue Sky Studios shut down in April 2021, which could have caused production of the film irrepressible.

  • The film was permanently cancelled.
  • No animation studios have yet to pick up this film.
