E.T. II: Nocturnal Fears was a planned sequel film to Steven Spielberg's E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial from 1982, with script written by himself and Melissa Mathison.
Plot[]
The film was supposed to have Elliott and his friends being kidnapped by extraterrestrial villains, and E.T. would have to save them.
Why It Was Cancelled[]
- Steven Spielberg then said such a sequel would rob the original film of its virginity, and the project was cancelled.
Result[]
- E.T. II was permanently cancelled and the first film is stand-alone.[1]
- In 2019, a commercial for Xfinity came out as a short film titled A Holiday Reunion, which was also a sequel to E.T the Extra-Terrestrial. It features E.T. returning to earth to spend Christmas with Elliot (who was now an adult) and his wife and kids.
