In 2004, during the production of Dragon Ball, Ben Ramsey was hired by 20th Century Fox to modify an existing script with the simple name of Dragonball Z.

Plot[]

The original script has alternate versions of Namekians, Goku would have two nerdy best friends named Kal and Wulan, Goku's two best friends would also die along with Grandpa Gohan, Pilaf would be a tiny albino dwarf with blue veins, Shu would be a monster humanoid instead of an anthropomorphic ninja dog, Krillin would make a cameo at Master Roshi's house as he eats popcorn while watching a martial arts tournament on television, Krillin and Goku would meet and smile at each other, indicating that the the two get along very good, Puar would be a normal cat instead of an anthropomorphic cat and he helps Yamcha steal wallets, Suno would be a gypsy girl where she would be killed by Mai and she would take her form to scam Goku and Bulma and Oolong It would be an evil spirit sucking women instead of an anthropomorphic pig and when he appears physically, his face takes the form of a pig, though it also adds a convoluted backstory involving an in-universe popular gaming franchise based on their real world battles with Piccolo.

Why It Was Cancelled[]

  • During the film's production, James Wong and the producers thought it would be a much better idea to scrap Ben Ramsey's modified script, focusing on doing a scifi and martial arts version of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man.
