Initially, after the release of the direct-to-video film Disney Princess Enchanted Tales: Follow Your Dreams, there was to be an entire series of Enchanted Tales direct-to-video film installments.

- DisneyToon Studios president Sharon Morrill stepped down in June 2007, and the animation studio units under the Walt Disney Company underwent a corporate restructuring as the Pixar leadership assumed more control.
- John Lasseter called off all future direct to DVD sequels after becoming the chief creative officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios.
