Cancelled Movies. Wiki

After the completion of Child's Play 2, creator Don Mancini went to work on Child's Play 3 on short notice. It consisted some differences from the released version.

The plot would have been the same as the 1991 film, but with notable differences such as multiple Chuckies, a bloodbath scene, and a scene of kids sneaking inside the Good Guys factory telling myths about Chucky.

Why It Was Cancelled[]

  1. Don Mancini was pressured by Universal to get production started before the second was even released. Mancini revealed in an interview that the third film was his least favorite in the series.
  2. Alex Vincent, the original actor of Andy Barclay was not old enough at the time to portray a 16-old Andy Barclay.
  3. Don Mancini and Universal did not have the budget and time to introduce the multiple Chucky army at the time.

  • Child's Play 3 ended up being released in 1991, receiving mixed reviews.
  • The story took place 8 years after the second film, even though Child's Play 3 was released 9 months after Child's Play 2 was.
  • Justin Whalin replaced Alex Vincent as Andy Barclay in this film.
  • The bloodbath scene was replaced by a scene of war games where Chucky replaced the paintball guns with real bullets,
  • The scene where the children sneak into the Good Guys factory to talk about the Chucky myth was scrapped.
  • The idea of multiple Chuckies was later used in the 2017 film Cult of Chucky.
  • John Ritter was supposed to make a cameo for this film, but he appeared on Bride of Chucky instead.
