Pierce brosnan casino royale

After filming Kill Bill Vol. 2 in 2004, Quentin Tarantino expressed his interest in directing his own adaptation of the James Bond novel Casino Royale, which would have been shot in black and white and would have featured Pierce Brosnan coming back as Bond and Uma Thurman playing the role of Bond girl Vesper Lynd. [1]

The film would have followed the plot of the novel, but unlike the 2006 film, the Quentin Tarantino version would have been set in the 1950's and 1960's.

  • Pierce Brosnan as James Bond

  • Uma Thurman as Vesper Lynd

  • Samuel L. Jackson as Felix Leiter

Rest of the cast is unknown.

Why It Was Cancelled[]

  1. Although Pierce Brosnan was interested in making the film, he didn't return since he was considered too old for the role at the time the film was being developed.
  2. EON Productions decided to make the film since Quentin Tarantino doesn't own the rights to produce James Bond films.
  3. EON didn't like Tarantino's original idea to set the film in the 1950's and 1960's. Instead, a Casino Royale adaptation set in modern day was picked.
  4. EON Productions and Sony Pictures decided to reboot the James Bond film franchise and the producers wanted a younger actor to play Bond, resulting in the casting of Daniel Craig.

  • The Quentin Tarantino version of Casino Royale was permanently cancelled.
  • A new film adaptation of Casino Royale directed by Martin Campbell and starring Daniel Craig as James Bond was released in 2006, which served as a reboot of the James Bond film franchise. The film became a box office and critical success.
