In 1999, Fox had plans on making an adaptation of the Wayne Barlowe's novel Barlowe's Inferno. It was to be Fox Animation Studios' next film after Titan A.E. and was also set to be made entirely with computer animation, which would have made it Fox's first fully computer animated film, before Blue Sky's Ice Age, which was released in 2002.
