Cancelled Movies. Wiki

In the early 2000s, Disney announced that a hand-drawn film under the title of Antonius was very early in the works. It was originally scheduled to release in 2002, but then pushed back numerous times.[1]

Plot[]

A leopard from Ancient Egypt wants to become a freedom fighter, and wants to stop a ruthless emperor from taking over the empire.

Development[]

Disney first confirmed the film's existence sometime around the 2000s, and then on August 9, 2002 it was re-announced, with a set release date of 2002 (the same year) or much more later. A preliminary script was planned, first seen a while ago on a now-deleted website called ScriptShark. Writing partners Tom Firestone and Martin Meunier (who was planned to also be the director of the film) had sold the pitch to Walt Disney Company's feature animation division around that time.[2]

Why It Was Cancelled[]

  1. The VP of Creative Affairs, Leo Chu, thought the idea wouldn't work well.

Results[]

  • The film was permanently cancelled, and no other major updates have been given for years.
