In 2007 DreamWorks Animation announced Animal Crackers, which schelduled to be realesed in 2009, before getting cancelled.

Plot[]

The original version is too different.

  • The characters are too different: Marty (Chris Rock), Mackenzie Huntington (Jennifer Aniston), Boog (Martin Lawrence), King (Sylvester Stallone), Verne (Garry Shandling), Hammy (Steve Carell) and Norman (Chris Renaud). Will Ferrell was originally set to be voice Norman, but was too busy from 2010 DreamWorks film: Megamind.
  • The film was originally called "Marty and Company", but was changed to Animal Crackers.
  • The plot is too different. In this plot, Marty and his friends save the world from Proffesor Magnifico, a magic cookie founder.
  • Instead of circus, the event takes place in the cracker island.
  • Instead of Netflix, the film would be released in theaters.
  • Arnold Schwarzenegger was set to be voice Proffesor Magnifico in the original version.

Why It Was Cancelled[]

  1. DreamWorks decided not to continue with the project due to "creative differences" with the director.
  2. The characters were used in other animated films like Over the Hedge.
  3. DreamWorks skipped the second 2009 film after Monsters Vs Aliens.

Results[]

  • Netflix bought the rights and Animal Crackers was released on Netflix on july 24, 2020 and recived mixed-to-positive reviews.
  • A DreamWorks version was permanently cancelled.
