On July 30, 2018, shortly after the release of the 2016 film Max Steel, it was announced that Mattel Films was developing an animated film based on the Angelina Ballerina book series. It was supposed to be released in early 2019, but, after the failure of Max Steel, it was cancelled forever and kept hidden in the Mattel vault.
